Final Week/ Hand In Week! The R Narrative: 5 and 7 Garrett Street date back to 1906 and are the oldest and only timber structures remaining on Garrett Street. The houses at 5 & 7 Garrett Street serve as a symbolic reminder of what was there before. Their heritage value lies in the fact that these are the only surviving houses on a street that was formerly full of the working class houses. 5& 7 Garrett Street are a testament to another time. Week 11

After last week we looked at finalising the placement for each letter and narrative. The R narrative, was that the letter R is an art piece that changes the art work on there all the time and it transform overtime with graffiti.  Feedback was pretty good! They reckon we should rethink the last 2 t’s as their sense of purpose and placement isn’t quite as thought out as the others and we should make more use of the entrance out onto Victoria street. For presentations they really liked the animation as it highlighted the idea of discovering the letters so 2 or 3 solid animations if possible would be good and then the exhibition team real want us to make a physical model cause the exhibition is lacking in physical models haha so we thought we could do the graffiti R and then could start drawing on it and then at the exhibition leave a pen for people to continue to draw on it. After class we went on to rethinking the las two letters of the Name...

Week 10

This week we decided to go out and put the letter in a space and analysed how it best suited the space. We came up with ideas of having some of the letters have more than just being a letter but it maybe could be a seat of a bike stand.  From this experiment we decided to go back and work on the narrative for each letter form and what its functionality is.  We also thought of adding the social media platform into our idea and we thought of a hash tag so when people take photos of the letter forms they could add this online and #hashtag this and it could create an archive of the letters on the street. Discovering the letters one by one is our main idea.  Archive idea. Feedback from group to group: -hashtag idea is really strong so keep pushing that. Maybe a live screen (think love twitter feeds at sports events etc) showing people photos of the letters? -continue to develop materials and come up with final placement and material of e...

Week 9

This week we looked at how lights would work during night time, and how we could incorporate letters in the space. We went on designing something that would suit the street and we thought about using the letters of 'GARRETT' to carry out the design. We also thought about the different structures of the building and how this may help form our letters. From these we had an idea of making each letter a different font from one another. This gave it more of an excitement and value.  Class Feedback . From the feedback we go in class was basically to test how the letters would fit in the space and testing letters. We then thought of a narrative for each letter so it is not just the letter on its own but instead telling a story.
