Week 10

This week we decided to go out and put the letter in a space and analysed how it best suited the space. We came up with ideas of having some of the letters have more than just being a letter but it maybe could be a seat of a bike stand. 





From this experiment we decided to go back and work on the narrative for each letter form and what its functionality is. 

We also thought of adding the social media platform into our idea and we thought of a hash tag so when people take photos of the letter forms they could add this online and #hashtag this and it could create an archive of the letters on the street. Discovering the letters one by one is our main idea.

Feedback from group to group: -hashtag idea is really strong so keep pushing that. Maybe a live screen (think love twitter feeds at sports events etc) showing people photos of the letters? -continue to develop materials and come up with final placement and material of each letter for next week. -3D video works well for exhibition space so consider pushing that further -figure out how the narrative works with each letter. Do we put it on the letter? Do we have signs? etc

This week we allocated each group with a task and my group we got the task of looking at what is currently there and using a design that would provide for the community in the current area. We looked at empty walls and carparks and how we could get more people to go into garrett street. We went down on a Wednesday, took photos and had conversations with a couple of people that worked on the street. Some wanted more people to know where garrett street was and some just liked the way it was, quiet and peaceful without the noise. We observed what happens on the street and we noticed there was a lot of trucks that turn around in the street and it was noisy and loud. Kinda disturbing people who are sitting around. We thought this maybe getting rid of the trucks may help the street be more quiet and peaceful. Week 9

This week we looked at how lights would work during night time, and how we could incorporate letters in the space. We went on designing something that would suit the street and we thought about using the letters of 'GARRETT' to carry out the design. We also thought about the different structures of the building and how this may help form our letters. From these we had an idea of making each letter a different font from one another. This gave it more of an excitement and value.  Class Feedback . From the feedback we go in class was basically to test how the letters would fit in the space and testing letters. We then thought of a narrative for each letter so it is not just the letter on its own but instead telling a story.
